Generation Green is today just a seedling having been established in April 2024. However, it is the result of a long collaboration between like-minded people who wish to build on their collective expertise in a structured manner. We are all sustainability enthusiasts with extensive expertise in designing and implementing didactic material focusing on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris Climate Agreement (both youth and adult education). We strive to pool our forces together and deliver the tools needed to support the transitions needed in various sectors to deliver a more sustainable future.
Recently the team delivered the Let’s Act! project for students aged 12-16 which explores, through five online modules, various dimensions related to Protecting the Planet. It as available as an open-access course on the Let’s Act Platform and currently in testing phase on the ATINGI Platform (funded by GIZ) for secondary and vocational training in Rwanda specifically and Africa in general. The team has collaborated with the World's Largest Lesson project (produced by Project Everyone) developing a Lesson Plans series on SDG7 and related topics. Currently, we are implementing the Young Smart Cities and the Yconic projects (both Erasmus+) and are contributing as project managers on various training projects and knowledge hubs ie. World Access to Modern Energy (WAME) and the FSR-Global Regulatory Knowledge Hub
The target audience of Generation Green includes both the decision-makers at the policy and regulatory levels as well as change-makers at the implementation and ground levels. Youth is a particularly important target group for Generation Green as they will be the decision-makers of the future.
Secondary students:
Despite an increasing interest in systems thinking in tackling global issues and transitions in the corporate world, such an approach has yet to be comprehensively defined or applied to the need for secondary school education. There is a lack of relevant tools and guidelines for the younger generation to engage with to help them understand systems thinking and the role and responsibilities they have within larger complex systems and transitions. Generation Green focuses on developing the didactic material needed to guide teachers on how to implement systems thinking as part of their everyday teaching of secondary students.
Our Stakeholders:
A holistic systems thinking approach is increasingly important across all sectors due to the growing complexity and interconnectedness of today's challenges. Viewing problems as part of larger systems, helps decision-makers understand how actions in one area impact others, leading to more sustainable, innovative, and resilient solutions. This approach fosters collaboration, anticipates risks, and promotes long-term thinking, making it essential for addressing modern global issues and transitions in a sustainable way. Generation Green focus on developing the tools and training needed to guide decision-makers and managers on how to implement systems thinking as part of their everyday work.
